Sweeney Locks Her 'Hollow' Leading Man and Sony Has Not Blinked
Belmont Cameli of Off Campus joins as Brom Bones in the gothic erotic thriller ... and Sony is still looking for Ichabod Crane.

Sony confirmed the male lead for Sydney Sweeney's "Hollow" on Wednesday ... per Yahoo Entertainment, Belmont Cameli is Brom Bones, and Ichabod Crane is still open for casting.
Cameli is coming off Prime Video's Off Campus, which pulled 36 million viewers in its first twelve days. He has also appeared in Until Dawn and The Alto Knights. Casting a male lead with that kind of streaming pull is not a coincidence.
"Hollow" is based on a debut novel by writer-director Lindsey Anderson Beer, who is adapting her own book for the screen and set to direct. The novel has not yet been published, per Deadline; it is slated for Putnam (Penguin Random House) in fall 2027. Sony committed to the adaptation before the book hits shelves.
The premise is a reframe. Washington Irving's Katrina Van Tassel is traditionally the romantic prize standing between Ichabod Crane and Brom Bones. In Beer's version, she is the central figure in a dangerous mystery and a seductive supernatural love triangle, the gothic and erotic thriller elements built around her perspective. Sweeney plays Katrina.
The Expected Suitor Gets Cast First
In Irving's tale, Brom Bones is the man everyone assumes Katrina will choose. He is the obvious local option. He does not get the girl. Sony cast him first and is still looking for the Crane.
Sweeney is producing through Honey Trap Productions, her own company, alongside LuckyChap Entertainment and Beer's Lab Brew banner, per Screenagewasteland. The project is Honey Trap's first film as a producing entity, enabled by a first-look deal between the company and Sony.
The business structure matters. Sony is not simply hiring Sweeney to act. They are co-developing IP from manuscript stage with her production company's first credit. That is a different kind of institutional bet than an ad campaign.
