Jonathan Taylor Thomas was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over at 12:30 a.m. during a DUI investigation near Malibu ... then he climbed out and refused to cooperate. The Home Improvement actor was released from custody Tuesday, but the felony obstruction charge is still open.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas, the 45-year-old actor best known as Randy Taylor on "Home Improvement," was booked on suspicion of felony obstruction and resisting arrest early Monday morning ... after stepping out of a vehicle during a sheriff's department DUI traffic stop near Malibu, per NBC Los Angeles.
LA County Sheriff's Department deputies pulled over the car Thomas was riding in at approximately 12:30 a.m. near Westlake Boulevard and Towsgate Road. When they ordered him to remain in the vehicle, Thomas got out and refused to cooperate during the DUI investigation, NBC LA reported.
The driver of the vehicle was separately taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
Thomas was transported to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station, where he was booked. He was released from custody Tuesday, per TMZ.
At 45, Thomas is best known for playing the middle Taylor son alongside Tim Allen in "Home Improvement," which ran from 1991 to 1998. He voiced young Simba in "The Lion King" (1994) and appeared in "Man of the House" and "Tom and Huck" (both 1995). He stepped back from acting after leaving the series and has been largely out of the public eye since.
Thomas's representatives offered no comment on the incident, per TMZ.
The felony obstruction and resisting arrest charge is still pending. Release from custody does not clear it.
